Nail extensions vs fill in Trois-Rivières: which service is right for you?
Choose a full set when your natural nails are bare — either because you have never had extensions before or because your previous set was removed. Choose a fill when your existing extensions are still in good shape and three to four weeks have passed since your last appointment.
Which should you choose?
At Ongles Trois-Rivières, located at Centre Les Rivières on boulevard des Forges, our technicians welcome clients from across the Mauricie region: residents of Vieux-Trois-Rivières, Cap-de-la-Madeleine, Shawinigan, and surrounding communities. Knowing the difference between a full set and a fill helps you plan your visits and budget your nail care with confidence. A full set is your starting appointment. Your technician prepares the natural nail surface, applies a tip extension if you want added length, and covers everything with gel or acrylic depending on your preference. She then shapes, smooths, and finishes with your chosen colour or nail art design. A full set typically takes between 90 and 120 minutes. A full set is also the right choice when your current set is more than five weeks old or too worn to be repaired — starting fresh gives your natural nails a chance to breathe and ensures the cleanest result. A fill is your regular maintenance visit, scheduled every three to four weeks. As your natural nail grows, a gap appears at the base of each extension. Your technician fills that gap with fresh product, re-shapes the curve of each nail, and updates the colour. A fill takes approximately 60 to 90 minutes. Waiting more than five weeks between fills increases the risk of lifting, which can trap moisture and eventually weaken the natural nail beneath. Our technicians at Centre Les Rivières assess your nails on arrival and recommend the most appropriate service. Walk-ins are welcome every day at our Trois-Rivières location.
